It's Easy to Save a Life

Give of yourself at Wilmington University's annual blood drive

If you knew that 20 minutes of your time could save a life, would you give your time to that cause?

On Tuesday, April 4, you can become a lifesaver during Wilmington University's 2017 blood drive. In cooperation with the Blood Bank of Delmarva, the University will again host the blood bank's staff of nurses and volunteers, each of whom will help you donate a pint of blood. Your donation will become a precious gift to a patient in need and could easily save a life.

The annual blood drive will take place in the Doberstein Admissions Center auditorium on the New Castle main campus, located at 320 N. DuPont Highway, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

It's easy to make a donation. Simply follow these steps:

•  Visit the Blood Bank of Delmarva's website at https://donate.bbd.org.

•  In the box marked "Have a sponsor code?" type WLUN , then click the "Go" button.

•  Click the button to select Wilmington University's April 4 blood drive.

•  Choose the appointment time that best suits your schedule.

•  You can also schedule your appointment by calling the Blood Bank of Delmarva at (888) 8-BLOOD-8 (888-825-6638).

All donors will be entered into a prize drawing. The winner will be notified at the end of the day.

"Blood donations are essential for delivering routine treatments, managing catastrophic emergencies, and preventing shortages," said Laurie Bick-Jensen, Director, Public Relations for Wilmington University. She has donated 27 times since 2008. "If you're a blood donor, you're a hero to the person who receives your donation."
