Spring Into the Season With WilmU's Spring Fest

Visit the New Castle campus on April 29 for music, food and family-friendly fun

If spring is your thing, welcome the warmer months at Wilmington University's Spring Fest, an afternoon of live music from up-and-coming regional artists, innovative cuisine from local food trucks, and family-friendly activities.

The outdoor event will take place on Saturday, April 29 from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on The Green at Wilmington University's New Castle campus, 320 N. DuPont Highway. Spring Fest is free and open to the public, and plenty of free parking is available.

"Spring Fest is a great way to bring our students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community together to enjoy all things spring," said Stacey Stickel of the Alumni Relations Department. "Everyone can bring the family, lawn chairs and a blanket for a fun day at Wilmington University."

Kids of all ages will enjoy free face painting, tie-dying, craft stations, an obstacle course, and other activities throughout the afternoon.

Musical performers scheduled to appear include:

• Lewes, Delaware-based country singer Sara Ann Garrison

The Susquehanna Floods, a blues-folk rock band from Perryville, Maryland

• Pop singer Taylor Tote of Tinton Falls, New Jersey

King Zimm of Camden, New Jersey, who mixes hip hop and soul into "rock and flow"

Nalani & Sarina, twin singer-songwriters from New Jersey.

While the DJ spinning tunes between bands might keep you on your feet, be sure to bring a blanket or chairs for lawn seating.

Delaware's food trucks will bring restaurant-quality cuisine to street level. Eating options at Spring Fest will include:

• Kapow, which combines Thai, Korean and Hawaiian flavors,

• The gourmet sandwiches of WiLDWiCH,

• Mojo Loco, for Latin fusion to go, and

• New Orleans-style frozen treats from Cajun Sno.
