Paintings of Le Petit Salon on Display at Rehoboth Beach Location of Wilmington University

Artists challenged with various artistic styles and techniques provide an excellent exhibit by local talent.

During the months of August and September, Wilmington University is hosting an art show presented by Le Petit Salon, a small group of artists who pursue the study of various painting styles and techniques.

There will be an Artists' Opening at the Rehoboth Beach site at 41 Rehoboth Avenue on Thursday, August 14, 2014, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend the opening and may also view the exhibit Monday through Saturday through September 30 at the Rehoboth site.

The hours for viewing the paintings on exhibit are:

August 14 through Labor Day, September 1:

Monday - Thursday  8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Friday - Saturday  8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

September 2 through September 30:

Monday - Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Friday - Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

After meeting with the artists, instructor Linda Escalante, who teaches studio classes at the University’s Rehoboth site, formed a small art study group that enabled them to study and explore the styles and techniques of famous artists from the Impressionists to the contemporary genre. Le Petit Salon artists are: Judy Catterton, Ken Catterton, Jane Duffy, Alan Keffer, LaVerne McIntyre, Melissa McLean, Margie Spaulding, and Phyllis Zwarych.

Le Petit Salon has undertaken such challenges as painting in the style of Andrew Wyeth and N.C. Wyeth, painting a garden stairway, completing a monochrome painting and copying a master painting or other master painter. The works on display by Le Petit Salon represent the culmination of their recent studies.
