Wilmington University Presents Filmmaker Greg Morris September 21 in New Castle

Assistant Professor Dan Young will join Morris to talk about art as a business and share tips on monetizing creative "products."

On Monday, September 21, 2015, Wilmington University College of Arts and Sciences, in concert with the College of Business, Student Life and the Peoples Library, present artist and film maker Greg Morris’ presentation, "Indie Hustle: Transforming Artistic Visions into Reality.”

The presentation is free and open to the community beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Pratt Student Center located on the New Castle campus. No prior registration is required to attend and plenty of free parking will be available.

Professor Dan Young, assistant professor in the College of Business and co-founder of Civitas Partners, a wealth management firm in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, will talk about art as a business and share tips for budding artists who want to self-produce and promote their visions.

Morris, an adjunct and doctoral candidate at Wilmington University, is also the author and co-director of several short plays including “Second Chances – An American Tale.” The play, produced in Wilmington last year, deals with the hard choices and economic realities that every artist has to contend with. Morris wants to share how he met and negotiated such challenges and provide insight into how other artists might deal with obstacles to becoming known in the community.

“This event showcases Greg Morris as a rare talent," said Kate Cottle, assistant professor and program chair in the College of Arts and Sciences. "He is a disciplined and driven artist as well as a successful filmmaker who knows how to promote his films. He has done one of the most difficult things possible -- taken a dream and made it tangible. I believe this is what every artist envisions for their work and Greg is being generous in sharing his expertise with us."
