A Step-by-Step Guide for Undergraduate Students

Application

There are two ways that you can apply for Admission to Wilmington University.

Apply online now!

If you choose to submit the application online, you will need submit the application fee of $35.00 using a credit card, or choose to be billed by the University for the fee. Along with the application fee you will need to submit the signed signature page. It should be mailed to:

Completing Application

Apply on Paper

You can pick up an application from any location/site or have one mailed to you (request one here). You may submit your application along with the application fee of $35.00 to any Wilmington University location.

Important points on the application

  1. Accurate contact information. The University will use the address and telephone number you provide for future mailings including grades and billing. Please make sure this information is correct.
  2. Select a degree program. If you are unsure of a degree path a meeting with an academic advisor or career services may be helpful. You may choose to indicate non-degree or undeclared. If you are planning to apply for Financial Aid you will be required to identify a degree choice.

Submit Your Academic Records

All freshman applicants must submit official high school transcripts (an official GED score is an appropriate substitute). If a student is transferring in college credits they must submit an official sealed copy of their college transcripts to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (see address above). Students transferring in 15 or more college credits do not need to submit high school transcripts. To have your official transcripts sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Wilmington University, please contact your previous institution.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid is available at Wilmington University for qualified students. If you are interested in applying for Financial Aid, you should do so as early as possible prior to each academic year.

Meeting with an Advisor

Your Academic Advisor

Your Academic Advisor can assist you in making sure you're on track for completing your degree program. The sequence guide (above) provides initial information, but since each student situation is unique, you should check in with your academic advisor if you have any question at all about your progress toward completing your degree.

University Locations

Attend New Student Orientation

To help you get better acquainted with Wilmington University, the New Castle and Dover sites offer New Student Orientation prior to the beginning of each academic year. For information regarding these events please visit the New Student Orientation website.

During in-person orientation, you will have the opportunity to tour the site, get your ID card and register for fall classes. Academic advisors will be available for guidance with course selections. If you are a transfer student, please have your transcript(s) sent to Wilmington University prior to orientation or registration to help facilitate the process.

Register for Classes

You will need to register for your courses prior to the beginning of each semester. There are several ways to register.

If you are a transfer student and anticipate transferring in 30 or more credits, we urge you to meet with your Academic Advisor before registering for the first time. For more information about when you should meet with your Academic Advisor please visit the Office of Academic Advising.

Course Completion

Step-by-step

Students Studying
  1. Select your course(s) using your sequence guide. If you would like more information about each course, review our course descriptions.
  2. Register for courses.
  3. Obtain textbook from the bookstore before the first class meeting.
  4. Obtain the syllabus for the course by accessing the Blackboard site for your course (available about 2 weeks prior to the first class meeting).
  5. Find where your class is meeting using WebCampus.
  6. Fulfill all of your course requirements as outlined in the syllabus, including attendance expectations.
  7. After each course ends, access your grade(s) online using WebCampus.

The University Catalog

The Wilmington University Catalog contains all of the degree program requirements and University policies and procedures for completing your degree program. You must refer to the catalog for the academic year in which you entered their degree program.

The Student Success Center provides services to help you succeed in your academic career at Wilmington University, such as tutoring and mentoring.

Student Handbook

Be sure to obtain a copy of the Student Handbook. The handbook provides information about student services, policies, and guidelines for students while attending Wilmington University.

Privacy

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law which protects all educational records and gives you control over who has access to them.

If you would like your educational records to be released to your parents or to a guardian you must complete the Request to Disclose Educational Records which is available here. http://www.wilmu.edu/privacy/discloserecords.pdf You may also obtain this form by visiting the Office of the Registrar.

Graduation

Upon successful completion of all the requirements for your degree program (courses and otherwise), you're ready to graduate!

Congratulations!

Graduates

You must submit a Petition for Degree to the Office of the Registrar to confirm eligibility for conferral of your degree.

The Petition tells the Registar to:

  1. Review your academic record to ensure completion of all requirements
  2. Order your diploma
  3. Send you everything you need to participate in the Commencement Ceremony
  4. Officially confer your degree (degree completion and conferral dates appears on your transcript)
