Ready! Set! Read!

Presented by the College of Education and the Robert C. and Dorothy M. Peoples Library

The Reading Clinic is currently full. We will be posting information for our next sessions soon.

The Wilmington University Reading Center provides children with individualized assessment and individual or small group instruction in literacy. The Reading Center focuses on students between the ages of six and eighteen who struggle with literacy (generally students are between one to four years below grade level in reading). Certified teachers preparing to become reading specialists provide students with one-on-one instruction, and enrollment is on a first come, first served basis.

Upon receipt of your registration documents, you will be contacted to set up your child’s specific testing. Instruction takes place for several weeks (see schedule at right). Parent conferences will be held at the conclusion of the program, and you will receive a detailed report of your child’s progress.

Eight-week Program Phases

Phase One

Each student will be tested prior to the start of clinic for 2 days (see schedule for testing dates). Six weeks of individual tutoring follow the testing.

Phase Two

This phase is dedicated to enhancing students’ literacy skills through instruction based on their needs and current literacy theories/ practices. They work in small group settings.
