I. How to report crimes or emergencies:

  1. Call Security Police at 677-6666.
  2. Briefly describe the crime or emergency.
  3. Security will call 911 for Police or Emergency Assistance.
  4. Security will file an Incident Report.

If an incident involving any of the crimes listed in section IV.F of this plan occurs, a report is to be filed with the Department of University Safety.

In the event of a report of a serious crime which is judged to present a possible risk to other students or employees, timely campus notices will be posted by the Wilmington University Department of University Safety.

II. Relationship with Police & Emergency Services:

  1. All campuses of Wilmington University can reach Police and Emergency services through 911.
  2. The Dover Airforce Base is primary jurisdiction of Dover Air Force Base Security Police.

III. Timely Accurate Reporting

The University encourages victims and witnesses to immediately and accurately report all criminal activity or emergencies to a security officer, campus security authority, or other university official

  1. A Security officer will assist in notifying law enforcement authorities.

IV. Crime Prevention Program

  1. The receptionist at Wilmington University, Dover AFB Site, is available during the day at the Dover AFB Office and the Night Monitor is available during the evening at DAFB Education Center to receive and immediately transmit all criminal complaints to security police. Also, emergencies maybe reported through 911.
  2. Exterior lighting is installed to facilitate safe movement at all points on the base. Public Safety-related site maintenance items are assigned a high priority by the DAFB Maintenance Department.
  3. Students and staff are asked to safely store and secure all personal belongings.
  4. Crime prevention educational materials regarding car theft, property protection, personal safety, drug abuse, etc. are made available to all at the Wilmington University Air Force Base site by the Wilmington University Department of University Safety.
  5. Information concerning registered sex offenders may be obtained from the Delaware State Bureau of Identification, Sex Offender Central Registry at http://www.state.de.us/dsp/sexoff/index.htm
  6. Annual crime statistics are compiled for all sites by the Director of Public Safety. A daily log is also kept and available from the Office of Public Safety (New Castle campus) upon request.
  7. The following tables represent the statistics concerning crimes and arrests reported at the DAFB site of Wilmington University during the three most recent calendar years.

V. Victim Support Service

  1. Contact numbers for counseling, mental health, and other support services for crime victims are listed in the Wilmington University Student Handbook.
  2. In any case involving an alleged sex offense, a victim who does not wish to remain in his/her present class section may be granted a transfer to any other reasonably available class section.

VI. Campus Disciplinary Procedures

The Wilmington University Code of Conduct and campus disciplinary procedures are set forth in detail in the Wilmington University Student Handbook(Code of Conduct may be revised without notification by Wilmington University).
