A Special Message from the President

Dr. Jack Varsalona
President

Wilmington College has undergone a name change and is now officially Wilmington University. On September 10, 2007, the Board of Trustees approved a change in our official designation and we will now be known as Wilmington University. After careful and deliberate research we concluded that the institution was, in fact, already operating as a university and most of the higher education community already recognized this fact. We have over 11,500 students at nine sites, we offer programs in two states and we have degrees ranging from associate to doctoral.

This alteration in status comes with many benefits. Becoming a university will differentiate us from liberal arts colleges and community colleges. It will allow us to compete in a global education environment. We believe that our students will benefit from the university designation on their transcripts and diplomas.

While our name may be changing we want our students and alumni to know that our admission policy, student-centered service, affordable tuition and small class size will remain the same. We pledge to continually provide higher education opportunities to everyone who is motivated to learn. Our committed faculty will continue to provide the practical, “real-world” knowledge students need to succeed on their future career paths. Although our name is changing, our dedication to academic excellence will remain the same.

Please join us in embracing this name change as our University continues to grow.
