Melissa Samio - Assistant CoachMelissa Samio begins her first season as an assistant coach with the Wilmington University women’s soccer program. Samio spent the past three seasons as a standout forward for the Lady Wildcats, where she earned All-CACC honors in 2004. A former All-Conference and All-State athlete at St. Mark’s High School, Samio helped guide the Spartans to four straight Delaware State Championships. Coach Samio, along with current assistant coach Colby Bugda, was actively involved with the TOPSoccer program at the Kirkwood Soccer Club, where she worked with special needs children. Samio also helped out with Special Olympics for four years. Coach Samio has eight years of club soccer experience, and helped her former club team, Hockessin United, to the Region I Semi-Finals in 2002. She also was a six year member of the Olympic Development Program in Delaware. Samio will graduate from Wilmington in the fall with her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and plans to begin her master’s degree in Elementary and Secondary School Counseling in the spring. |
