"Team Wilson" Participates in 5th Annual Kidney Walk
Team Wilson honored Wilmington University Vice President of Academic Affairs and kidney transplant recipient Dr. James Wilson by participating in the 5th annual Kidney Walk on October 13. Fifty team members, along with the national champion Wilmington University cheerleaders, the WilmU men’s soccer team and school mascot Wiley D. Wildcat, showed their support by participating in the walk at the Wilmington Riverfront and raising over $6,400.
Team Wilson's participation in the annual Kidney Walk marked Dr. Wilson’s successful kidney transplant last year. “I’m grateful to every person on our team, and to everyone who contributed, not for myself but for the many other people who are dealing with the severe debilitation of kidney disease and benefit from the good work of the National Kidney Foundation of the Delaware Valley,” said Dr. Wilson. “We especially congratulate the Foundation for raising $112,000 this year.”
Dr. Wilson and his wife, Tina, received special notation as “2012 All-Star Walkers” for raising well over $1,000 for the Foundation this year. All funds raised through contributions and sponsorships for the Kidney Walk were donated to the National Kidney Foundation to support its free early detection screenings, research, education programs and other patient services.
Donations the National Kidney Foundation are encouraged and will continue to be accepted by Team Wilson until December 31, 2012. Please visit 2012 Kidney Walk at http://goo.gl/RMLBY if you wish to donate.
