Wilmington University Invites Students and Public to Experience "National Distance Learning Week"

Wilmington University Online will be holding a number of activities to celebrate distance learning in honor of National Distance Learning Week (NDLW) and to educate the general public on the future of learning online. National Distance Learning Week runs from November 5th - 9th across the United States as a way to generate broader awareness and appreciation for distance learning within the areas of K-12 education, higher and continuing education, home schooling, as well as business, corporate, military, and government markets.

During NDLW, prospective students and the community are encouraged to log on to the Online Learning page and go on a digital scavenger hunt to answer questions about Online Learning and Blackboard. All participants will be entered into a drawing for an iPod

According to a statement by the United States Distance Learning Association, online learning is the fastest growing segment of education with 3.5 million adults and 700,000 K-12 students taking a course and/or completing their degree completely online.

Wilmington University began offering 100% online degrees in the fall of 2007 and has seen tremendous growth since then. In addition to online degrees, the University also offers online courses, hybrid courses (half online and half in-class) and has expanded the use of their online learning platform, Blackboard Learn.

"Our faculty is absolutely dedicated in their willingness to use online and other advanced learning technologies to support our students’ engagement in our online environment,” said Sallie Reissman, Senior Director of Online Learning and Educational Technology at Wilmington University. "We are eager to hear feedback from our current Distance Learning students and hope to hear from new or prospective students who may be interested in learning online."
