Wilmington University Hosts Third Annual “B-Sides” Cyber Security Conference

The third annual “B-Sides” Cyber Security Conference will be held November 9 - 10 in the Doberstein Admissions Center at the New Castle campus of Wilmington University. This free event includes workshops, competitions and distinguished speakers in the field of cyber security.

B-Sides is a community-driven network that allows information security professionals and enthusiasts to meet, share information and discuss security issues. While the conference is open to anyone with an interest in cybersecurity, it has become an excellent opportunity for the University’s Computer & Network Security students to network with practitioners and learn more about the field.

Wilmington University's Student and Alumni Group was instrumental in bringing the conference to the state three years ago. Former student Janice Paulson attended a B-Sides conference in Las Vegas and decided to create the same opportunity on the East Coast in Delaware. Today, the real movers of B-Sides Security Delaware are Janice Paulson, WilmU Cyber Network Security alumni and Joshua Marpet, a Cyber Network Security Adjunct Instructor.

Seminars and workshops featured at this year’s B-Sides Delaware 2012 Conference will include:

·         "Armitage and Cobalt Strike Penetration Testing Lab"

·         "Social Engineering Basics and Beyond"

·         “Chimps, Gimps and Pimps: Don't let them get their damn dirty paws on your iThings”

·         “Cyber Security for the Industrial Environment”

·         “Firewalling dynamic infrastructures (the cloud) with Chef and Netfilter”
