More than 1,170 students are set to receive diplomas this Sunday as Wilmington University celebrates its 42nd annual Commencement Winter Ceremony at the Chase Center on the Riverfront.

The class is part of a student body totaling more than 15,000. The youngest person graduating on Sunday is 20; the eldest is 72.

The day will include three consecutive ceremonies honoring graduates of the University’s six colleges, in the following order:

  • College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education and College of Health Professions, 10:00 a.m.
  • College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and College of Technology, 1:00 p.m.
  • College of Business, 3:30 p.m.

Each ceremony will feature a student speaker specially selected by the University for exemplary academic performance and service to the community. University President Dr. Jack Varsalona will deliver a warm greeting to the graduates and their families. Dr. James D. Wilson Jr., Vice President for Academic Affairs, will present the degree candidates.

A select number of undergraduate and graduate degree recipients are set to receive academic awards. Chief among these are the President's Award and the Trustees Award. Student award winners are not made aware that they will be receiving their awards prior to their graduation ceremony.
