Wilmington University Celebrates its Past, Present and Future with Homecoming Celebration

New Castle, Delaware – Wilmington University is coming home in a big way.

A weekend loaded with spirited events, parties and athletics kicks off on September 27, 2013, and continues through Sunday.

On Friday, September 27, the University will host an Alumni Networking Happy Hour at the University & Whist Club in Wilmington. This is an opportunity for alumni, students, faculty, staff and guests to interact in a casual atmosphere. A guest speaker will address the group about the job market and the value of networking. Enjoy delicious food and beverages. Career Services will also be available to answer questions. Cost is $10 for alumni and $15 for guests. RSVP is required.

On Saturday, September 28, a day of athletic excellence commences with the WilmU volleyball team’s faceoff against Felician College at 11:00 a.m. A soccer double-header begins at 12:30 p.m. with the women up against Caldwell College, followed by the men at 3:30 p.m.

During those matches, the festivities abound: Food vendors, a photo booth, the bookstore, games, and prizes will be offered throughout the day for guests and their family to enjoy, all at no cost.

After the games, guests can interact and relax with fellow alumni at the Sheraton Hotel Wilmington South for the Alumni Homecoming Party from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Sheraton is also offering special room rates for the evening. Cost is $10 for alumni and $15 for guests (includes 2 drink tickets). RSVP is required.

For the first time this year, the University is hosting a Wildcat Pride Party at 8:00 p.m. Saturday in the Pratt Student Center. Students, alumni, friends and family are invited.

"Homecoming is a day that brings together alumni, students, faculty and staff with the primary purpose of creating stronger community and showing Wildcat pride," said Stefanie Whitby, Senior Director of Institutional Advancement. "This event promotes the opportunity for students to build a stronger university community and for alumni to reconnect and utilize networking, leadership and mentoring support."
