Joins five additional new appointees in support of United Way's mission in Delaware.

Dr. LaVerne Harmon, Executive Vice President of Wilmington University, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of The United Way of Delaware.

The United Way of Delaware’s mission is to maximize community resources to improve quality of life for all Delawareans. Its mission includes programs to ensure that all children in Delaware start school prepared to learn; that adolescents succeed in school and life; the financial empowerment and security of individuals and families; the availability of quality healthcare for everyone. "I am honored to be appointed to the Board of Directors for The United Way of Delaware," said Dr. Harmon. "The University has always supported the work of The United Way, through both volunteerism and monetary contributions. Our annual, University-wide United Way contribution campaign, and our continuing support of the Food Bank of Delaware, are just two of our supporting initiatives. As a board member, I feel that I am now in a position to help this most effective organization on a more personal level."
