Carper, Coons, Carney to Host Job Fair March 23 at Wilmington University Dover Site

Job fair will connect area companies with students and professionals in search of full and part-time positions.

U.S. Senators Tom Carper and Chris Coons, and U.S. Representative John Carney are bringing one of three new job fairs to the Dover location of Wilmington University on March 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The job fair will help to connect individuals searching for jobs with area companies looking to fill open full and part-time positions.

Businesses will be on site at the fair to meet potential new employees. Only employers with positions to fill will be permitted to attend.

Pre-registration is not required for this event. Free parking is plentiful for all attendees at the Dover site.

This is the third year in which the delegation has partnered with Brandywine Counseling and Community Services to host the Kent County job fair. Brandywine Counseling will also be on hand to provide job search skills workshops like resume-writing and interview techniques.

“Our economy is growing, but we need to make sure it’s growing for everybody,” said Senator Coons. “We've been hosting these job fairs to connect those looking for jobs with employers ready to put them to work. The fairs are a great opportunity for job seekers to meet with representatives from government agencies, private sector, staffing agencies, military recruiters and others. We hope that organizations that are hiring will reach out to meet many talented Delawareans who are looking for work at the job fairs.”

“The national economy is picking up steam. But we still have too many Delawareans who are unemployed or underemployed and looking for work,” said Congressman John Carney. “Over the last several years, we’ve done job fairs in every part of the state to connect qualified job seekers with employers looking to hire. We’re looking forward to building on that in 2015, starting in Dover this month.”

For more information on how to participate as an employer or job seeker, please call Senator Coons’ office at 302-573-6345, or email workshop@coons.senate.gov
