Friendly Cricket Festival

A Cultural Day of Sport and Community

On Wednesday, June 10 Wilmington University will be hosting a Friendly Cricket Festival on the University Green in New Castle.  This event, which is a collaborative effort between the Multicultural Student Association, Student Life, and Alumni Relations, is going to be a great way to experience another culture’s favorite pastime.  Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in cricket games, henna painting, food, and dancing during the event.

For those who might not be familiar with the sport of Cricket, it is a bat and ball game played between two teams composed of eleven players.  At the center of the field is a rectangular pitch where batters take turns attempting to score runs.  Cricket is hugely popular in India, Pakistan, Australia, England, South Africa, Srilanka, New Zealand, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe.  With over 120 million players, Cricket has been recognized as the second most popular sport in the world; secondly only to soccer.

This event is surely going to be a fun and educational day of recreation.  Please, CLICK HERE is you would like to register.
