Make a Child's Christmas Bright -- Donate a Toy to the 2015 "Joy of Sharing" Toy Fest at Wilmington University

Third year of University participation in one of the region's biggest charitable Christmas campaigns for children.

Wilmington University has partnered once again with CBS 3 for the "Joy of Sharing" Toy Fest. The campaign officially kicked-off on November 27 and will run through December 21. This year marks the third year of the University's partnership with CBS 3 to help underprivileged children receive gifts at Christmas.

There are a few changes that promise to make this year's toy collection an campaign donations even easier.

First, anyone may donate $10 immediately by texting the work "JOY" to 41444 (standard message and data rates apply). This is a new and very convenient way to make a donation and help a child to have a happier holiday.

As in previous years, donated new, unwrapped toys are always welcome. Toy donations should be brought to the Doberstein Admissions Center (DAC) between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on December 9. All toys will be placed inside a Buick SUV that will be located outside of the DAC. Instead of putting donations into collection bins located at different sites across the campus, donated toys will be used to "stuff the Buick."

Anyone who collects toys for donation should be sure to put December 9 on the calendar to ensure that all donated toys make it into the Buick while it's on campus as this will be the only collection site for toys this year.

"Thanks to everyone who donated last year, we collected over 800 toys," said Dr. Regina Allen-Sharpe, Senior Director, Career Services. "So many more people will be able to take advantage of the ability to text a $10 donation, so we foresee a very happy Christmas for even more children this year."

For more information about the "Joy of Sharing" Toy Fest or about this year's donation procedure, contact Regina Allen-Sharpe by email to regina.a.sharpe@wilmu.edu or by phone: 302-356-6789.
