60 Talented Hackers Attend Intensive, Week-long Delaware Cyber Boot Camp and Competition

U.S. Cyber Challenge & Wilmington University Host Annual Cyber Camp in Dover, Delaware

U.S. Cyber Challenge (USCC), the State of Delaware, and a collaboration of  Delaware higher education institutions (Wilmington University, University of Delaware, Delaware State University and Delaware Technical Community College) will kick off the annual Delaware Cyber Camp next week at Wilmington University in Dover. Sixty qualified participants will receive hands-on, intensive cybersecurity training by some of the nation’s leading experts.

The camp begins Monday, July 23, and ends Friday, July 27. All participants qualified for the program based on their scores from the Cyber Quest competition (www.CyberQuests.org) that was held in April.

The rigorous CTF competition will take place at the end of the week, on Friday morning, to test performance based on what each participant has learned individually and as members of a team. Winners will receive scholarships from (ISC)2 and the Center for Internet Security (CIS) at the award ceremony immediately following the competition.

Delaware Governor John Carney, U.S. Senator Tom Carper, and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester will be on hand for the award ceremony to formally recognize the winners of the CTF competition and all camp participants.

The CTF competition and the award ceremony are open to the media.

“The State of Delaware and its universities have been immensely supportive in our mission to identify and train the nation’s future leaders in cybersecurity,” stated USCC National Director Karen S. Evans. “Partnerships like these make it possible for us to face the issue of the cybersecurity workforce gap head on and proactively be a part of the solution.”

Next week’s intensive programming will include classes in cybersecurity program analysis, tactical post-exploitation techniques, WebAppPenTest 2018, and Windows memory forensics.

The 2018 Cyber Summer Camp Series features four week-long camps located in Delaware, Illinois, Nevada and Virginia. In line with the mission of USCC’s parent organization, the Center for Internet Security (www.CISecurity.org), the camps are an integral part in the mission to identify and develop cybersecurity talent in order to reduce the nation’s cybersecurity workforce gap and safeguard private and public organizations from cyber threats. Participants in USCC programming are encouraged to continue developing their skills and network with like-minded individuals by becoming active members in CyberCompEx.org, an online social community specifically for cybersecurity enthusiasts.

The Delaware Cyber Camp is supported in part through partnerships with Accenture, Amazon Web Services, the Association for Federal Information Resources Management (AFFIRM), Center for Cyber Safety & Education, Center for Internet Security (CIS), CenturyLink, Cyber Ninjas, Defense Point Security LLC, the Department of Homeland Security, Duo, (ISC)2, Monster Government Solutions, NIC, SANS Institute, Sherman Consulting, and Unisys.
