Wilmington University to Confer Degrees on 1,397 New Graduates at May 17 Commencement

Dr. Michael Rajchel, first actively deployed military service person to successfully defend doctoral dissertation at WilmU, will personally accept degree at 1 p.m. ceremony.

On Sunday, May 17, 1,397 candidates for all degree levels from associates to doctorates will walk across the stage at the Chase Center on the Riverfront to ceremonially accept their respective degrees during 3 separate commencement programs for Wilmington University's graduating class of 2015.

The commencement ceremonies will be held by college at the following times:

9:30 a.m.  College of Health Professions and the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences

1:00 p.m.   College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Business

4:30 p.m.   College of Education and the College of Technology

Also present for the 1:00 p.m. ceremony will be Dr. Michael Rajchel, who will accept his degree from Dr. Jack Varsalona along with other Doctor of Business candidates in the 2015 College of Business graduating class. Dr. Rajchel successfully defended his doctoral dissertation last January 25 via WiFi as a U.S. Air Force captain on active duty in Baghdad, Iraq -- the first Wilmington University doctoral candidate ever to do so.

Those who plan to attend the ceremonies are reminded that there may be significant traffic delays on the day of commencement due to the planned closure of the I-95 access ramps at Route 202. Those who would normally use I-95 at that critical point should allow plenty of additional travel time.

Graduates are reminded to be on time and to check in upon arrival at the Chase Center. Once checked in, all graduates should proceed immediately to the robing area prior to the procession of the graduating class into the commencement hall.

Commencement will not be delayed due to late arrivals out of courtesy to all other graduates and attendees.

Congratulations, Class of 2015!
