Deliver A Gift To Those In Need

Join Wilmington University and CBS Philly in the "Joy of Sharing Toy Fest"

For the fifth year, Wilmington University is partnering with KYW-TV 3, Philadelphia's CBS affiliate, to bring holiday cheer to the area's less fortunate children through the Joy of Sharing Toy Fest.

Between November 27 and December 18, the charity drive is collecting toys as well as monetary donations pledged via text message to provide gifts for children who might not receive them this holiday season.

"It's a humbling experience to be a part of the tradition that Wilmington University has established," said Nick Papanicolas of WilmU's athletic department, the coordinator of this year's toy drive efforts, "and to be able to help people in our community bring the magic of the holiday season to their families."

Students, faculty, staff and the WilmU community can participate in the Joy of Sharing Toy Fest two ways:

• Text the word JOY to 41444 through Monday, December 18 to make an automatic $10 donation (standard message and data rates may apply). All monetary donations will fund the purchase of toys for the drive.

• On Wednesday, December 6, bring new, unwrapped toys to the Doberstein Admissions Center on WilmU's New Castle campus between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to drop them off at the CBS 3 donation vehicle parked in front of the building, where a news crew will be broadcasting live.

The Salvation Army, the USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, and the Boys & Girls Club of Camden County will receive and distribute the donated and purchased toys to local communities. In last year's drive, Wilmington University collected $745 in text message donations along with 148 toys.
