Dr. Sartell is a senior faculty member in the DNP Program within the College of Health Professions at Wilmington University. She teaches DNP core and project courses. Dr. Sartell earned a Diploma in Nursing at The Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore Maryland. Her BSN is from The University of Maryland and her MS in Nursing Science in Medical Surgical Nursing with a Concentration in Oncology was earned from the University of Delaware. She has a Doctorate in Education from Wilmington University and a post-masters Certificate as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. She is also a Certified Wound Care Specialist.
Her research interests include: cultural diversity, global health and geriatric medicine. Dr. Sartell’s dissertation was titled “Self-reported Cultural Competency of Delaware Nurses.” She maintains an active clinical practice in primary care, geriatric/rehabilitation and wound care in Delaware and Maryland.
Dr. Sartell is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International in both Beta Xi and Omicron Gamma chapters. She has run 2 successful medical mission trips to Sierra Leone, West Africa. Her personal interests include music and gardening.
