Geoffrey C. Olive - Brief Biography
Prior to retiring in June 2013 Geoff Olive has been the Wilmington University College of Technology Chair of Studio Production program and Laboratory Manager. He taught Audio, and Computer Science courses as well as being Executive Producer and Video Editor for the weekly student produced cable channel 28 TV show ‘Youth in Sports’. Geoff originally comes from the UK where he worked in secondary and tertiary education initially as a science teacher and later as a college lecturer in media resources and production. He and his family lived in Singapore for nearly eight years, where he was Head of Educational TV Production at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Prior to coming to Wilmington College in 1997, he transferred to a position as a Senior Lecturer in Mass Communication, also at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, teaching audio and radio broadcasting. Geoff has a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from the University of London, King’s College, a Master of Education degree from the University of Wales, and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Delaware. His personal interests are very varied. Collecting old vinyl records is now more of an obsession (according to his wife, Lynne!) than a hobby, having amassed nearly 150,000! Vintage computing and electronics also takes up a lot of space in the basement. A 48-year veteran in martial arts, Until recently Geoff was a Sensei (teacher) at a local martial arts school. He holds black belts (one 3rd degree and two 1st degrees) in three different styles of karate from the USA, Europe, and Asia respectively.
