Dr. Slentz completed a Doctorate of Education Degree at Wilmington University in 2003; he was additionally honored with the Academic Achievement Award. He completed a Master of Science in Management Degree at Troy State (International Division) University in 1984, and Dual Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology and Geography from The University of Pittsburgh in 1976. Dr. Slentz is committed to providing his students an opportunity to expand their perspectives by utilizing a Systems Approach in understanding, evaluating, and analyzing Information Systems. Additionally, his students are mentored in using an Action Research methodology. This methodology blends the academic with the pragmatic, empowering students to embrace change and make improvements to their work and personal environments. Before accepting a permanent position with Wilmington University, Dr. Slentz worked for the State of Delaware. He spent three years as a Statistical Research Analyst and seven years as an Information Systems Technology Consultant. Prior to the state employment, he served in the US Air Force as a Transportation/Logistics Officer through 1993, when he retired at the rank of Major. Through his military career he worked with Information systems in a variety of capacities including serving as the Information Systems Officer for Transportation at Tactical Air Command, Langley AFB, Virginia and United States Air Forces Europe, Germany. Before entering the military Dr. Slentz worked at the Learning Research and Development Center at the University of Pittsburgh as a Computer Hardware Interface Senior Technician.
