Commencement Ceremony Details

On behalf of Wilmington University, we extend our sincere best wishes to the graduates and to all who have supported you in your accomplishments. We look forward to your attendance at the Commencement ceremony, when we will recognize the achievements of the students who have applied for a degree (see Graduation Procedures for more information).

Wilmington University holds seven Commencement ceremonies each year:

  • Winter Commencement (three ceremonies divided by College) is held in late January at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, DE.
    • Students who complete their degree in Summer or Fall semesters are eligible to attend Winter Commencement.
  • Spring Commencements are held in May at the Chase Center on the Riverfront (three ceremonies divided by College) and at Delaware Technical & Community College Owens Campus (one ceremony for all Colleges) in Georgetown, DE.
    • Students who complete their degree in Spring semester are eligible to attend Spring Commencement.

* Which Date Do I Attend?

Students choosing to attend commencement at the Chase Center on the Riverfront will attend on the date listed for their College. Not sure of your College? Find your major in our online list of Academic Programs. Click on your major and you College will be displayed in the colored banner at the top of the page. For multiple ceremonies held on the same day, the start time for each ceremony will not be determined until after the deadline to apply for graduation has passed for each ceremony.

** Attending Commencement

  • Students are requested to arrive one hour before the ceremony start time.
  • Students must sign in at Student Check-In and then proceed to the Student Robing area, where further instructions will be given.
  • Guests arriving separately should plan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start time.

Guest Tickets for Chase Center Ceremonies

Based on the number of graduates for each commencement, each graduate will be mailed a pre-determined number of guest tickets for their ceremony. The number of guest tickets available to each graduate is not determined until after the deadline to apply for graduation has passed. Guest tickets are not required for the Georgetown, DE ceremony.
