Doctoral Studies Program Celebrates 20 Years

The year was 1992 and Wilmington College, a budding institution in New Castle, Delaware, had just enrolled students in the brand new Doctor of Education program. These pioneers led the way for hundreds of other students to earn their doctoral degrees at the institution.

This spring, Wilmington University celebrated those pioneers and all the graduates of the program since at the Doctoral Studies 20th Year Celebration. The program recognized retired faculty and staff from the Doctoral program, introduced the new Doctoral Networking program formed by Dr. Mike Czarkowski, Director of the Doctor of Education program, and welcomed over 140 alumni and guests.

“I enjoyed seeing many of my friends from my cohort that I haven't seen in some time,” said Jason Hale, Doctor of Education alumni from Cohort 15. “This was a great way to bring all of us together and share out appreciation for the University and those who helped us achieve our goals.”

Alumni had a great time while mingling with fellow cohort members, faculty and staff. They nibbled on delicious food from Trattoria Di Napoli. The “Wall of Fame” showcased all of the alumni dissertation titles separated by cohort.

“There was certainly a sense of camaraderie in the room,” said Amy Grundy, Doctor of Education program from Cohort 14. “I was proud to be among people who shared a common accomplishment.”
