First Wilmington University Homecoming This Weekend

How far have we come? Come out this weekend and see!

Wilmington University’s first Homecoming Weekend is September 14 – 15, uniting students and alumni in a celebration of the university’s past, present and future. Starting with an Alumni Networking happy hour Friday night, Homecoming is a chance for current students to make valuable “real world” connections with alumni who may be able to help them begin, advance or guide their careers.

The Alumni Networking event runs from 6 to 8 p.m. at the University & Whist Club, 805 N. Broom St. in Wilmington, Delaware. Dr. Maria Hess, editor-in-chief of Delaware Today magazine, will talk about networking and career tips. Wilmington University Career Services will also be on hand.

The cost is $10 for alumni and students and $15 for guests. To RSVP, please click here. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and two complimentary drink tickets are included in the price.

The celebration continues on Saturday with the grand opening of the new Wilmington University Athletic Complex on U.S. 40 in Bear. Come and experience the athletic excellence of the women’s soccer team as they meet Bloomfield College on the new field at noon, followed by the men’s teams at 2:30 p.m. Both games are free and open to the public.

The Wood Fired Pizza truck will be on hand at the games, along with Scoops ice cream and other refreshments. There will also be a performance by the university’s national champion cheerleaders. Attendees are asked to RSVP at www.wilmu.edu/homecoming.

From 5 to 8 p.m., the university will hold an alumni celebration inside the gym of the new athletic complex, featuring cuisine from Drexelbrook Catering and music by the Tim Laushey Trio. This event costs $10 for alumni, $15 for guests.
