Workshops Introduce Young Women to Technology
Wilmington University is offering four free workshops to introduce young women to the possibilities of a career in information technology.
The Ms. Connection workshops are intended for both high school girls and adult women thinking about entering or returning to college. All workshops are broken down into two-part sessions and will be held in the Peoples Library Building at the New Castle campus. The workshops are:
You Tell IT, Girl! Create a website to tell your own interactive story. Part I is Monday, October 22, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Part II is scheduled for Tuesday, October 23, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Both workshops will be held in Room 212.
IT’s Game On! Design and create your own computer game. Part I is Wednesday., October 24, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.; Part II is Thursday, October 25, 6:00 to 8 p.m. Both will be in Room 027.
Make IT Reel Create and edit your own short, digital film. Part I is Monday, October 22, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Part II is Tuesday, October 23, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Room 223.
You Design IT Create your own computer-based multimedia design. Part I is Wednesday, October 24, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.; Part II is Thursday, October 25, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Room 029A.
“Careers using information technology (IT) are great choices for women because they offer a lot of variety and flexibility,” stated Nancy McDonald, chair of the Information Systems Management and Web Information Systems degree programs at Wilmington University. “I really like the creative aspects of designing new, IT-based solution as pathways to helping people in business be more successful.”
