Wilmington Standouts Brandon Fox and Brittany Biddle Named Wildcats’ December Athletes of the Month

Wilmington standout student-athletes Brandon Fox and Brittany Biddle have been named Wildcat Athletes of the Month for December after rewriting the record books and leading their respective teams in the classroom and on the hardwood.

Fox, a senior forward on the men’s basketball team, averaged 13.5 points and eight rebounds a game for the month of December, leading the team to a 2-4 record while starting in all six contests. He’s been most impressive in the last three games of the month, leading the team in both points and rebounds in each game.

The Middle Level Education major scored a season high 19 points in back-to-back games, first going 7-for-13 and hitting two three-pointers against Goldey-Beacom on December 10. Fox backed that up with a 19 point and eight rebound performance against Lincoln University on December 15. He shot 6-for-13 from the floor and added 6-for-8 from the foul line. For the month, Fox added 14 assists, six blocks and six steals, scoring 81 points overall.

Biddle, a junior middle hitter for the volleyball team, did not play a single set in the month of December as the Wildcats’ season was finished in November with a loss in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament Championship match on November 10. She did however perform in the classroom, becoming the second Wilmington University student-athlete to ever be named to one of the Capital One Academic All-America Teams, voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

One of the highest academic honors an athlete can obtain, Biddle was voted to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-American Division II Volleyball Third Team after finishing the fall semester with a perfect 4.0 grade point average and leading her Wildcats to a 28-6 overall record, going 18-1 in the CACC. She was also named Second Team All-CACC for the second year in a row, leading the team with a .274 hitting percentage and second in blocks (119) and blocks per set (0.98). Biddle is obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education: K-6.

Biddle joins current Wilmington University softball standout Katie Warrington as the lone Wildcats to be named Capital One Academic All-American, as Warrington was named Second Team in the spring of 2012 and Third Team in 2011.
