The Power of Networking

Someone once said, “It is not what you know, it is who you know”, but here at Wilmington University, we believe it is a little bit of both.  Wilmington University has earned a stellar reputation as an institution that provides students with an excellent education however, in addition to the classroom experience, students are also introduced to numerous opportunities to become connected to an impressive, and ever-growing, network of alumni.

Just this past month, Pi Gamma Mu hosted one of these events, The Power of Networking.  This event was held at the New Castle Campus in the new Pratt Student Center.  Among those in attendance were Wilmington University staff, faculty, numerous current and future alumni, as well as some very accomplished presenters.  The presentations offered valuable information on such topics as the power of social media, the WilmU Co-op program, financial management, starting a business or a non-profit, and many more.  There was definitely something of great interest for everyone in attendance.

Among the highlights of the evening was a wonderful selection of food prepared by Wilmington alumnus, Richard Carter and his nonprofit organization, The Hospitality School.  The menu was equally impressive in regard to the taste of the food, the presentation, and the quality of the service.  This catered experience provided a perfect backdrop for the engaging conversations that were taking place around the room.  Students and alumni alike could be seen mingling, connecting, and learning from one another. It was truly an empowering event and only time will tell the results of the relationships that were forged on this evening.
