Dance Troupe Brings Lively Performance to Wilmington University

Dance, history and fun.

In honor of Black History Month, the Sankofa dance troupe performed at Wilmington University for students, faculty and staff on Saturday February 8th, at the University's Dover location. The troupe entertained over 60 guests with a dance performance packed with African history, dance origins, and traditions designed to increase awareness of African and African American contributions to world culture.

The Sankofa dance troupe travels nationally with performers as young as age four. The lively event piqued students' interest and many signed up later to join dance classes. This program is sponsored by the Inner City Cultural League, Inc. and was founded by retired Dover City Councilman Reuben Salters. Student Government and Student Life coordinated the event.
