Wilmington University Welcomes Over 3,300 Graduates in the Alumni Association

May 2014 was a watershed month for more than three thousand students, as they were formally recognized for completing a degree program at Wilmington University.  These graduates were honored for their accomplishments in one of two ceremonies.  One graduation celebration was held at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington on Sunday, May 18, and the other was held at the University’s Georgetown location at Delaware Technical and Community College on Wednesday, May 21.

Regardless of which ceremony was attended, one thing is for certain; these lives will never be the same.  They are now armed with the tools that they need to make a lasting impact on their world.  They have been equipped with an outstanding education, rich in academic integrity and real-world knowledge.  And they have also been shoulder to shoulder with other professionals, with which a powerful network could be established.  It is incredibly exciting to watch in expectation, to see where these bright stars will carry the Wilmington University banner.

Among these graduates was Christy Phillips who received a Master of Education in School Leadership.  Phillips has used the experience and education she received while at Wilmington University to help her be chosen as the next principal of Howard T. Ennis School in Georgetown, DE - effective July 2014.  When asked about her experience at WilmU, she said, “I loved the convenience of the class scheduling, the accessibility of the professors, and the opportunity to collaborate with other professionals in my field.”

Another graduate, Dawn Mosley shared similar sentiments.  She said, “I loved how much hands on instruction I received from my professors.  It was wonderful to be taught by people who have real experience in the field I am training for.”  Ms. Mosley, who was awarded an Associate of Arts in Media Arts degree, enjoyed her experience so much that she is already enrolled in classes in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Media Design.

These two stories are wonderful, but they are just a sample of the hundreds of stories that could be read in the smiles and tears of the University’s newest alumni.  It was a proud day for many. Not just the graduates, but also the University who will be represented well by their influence.
