Homecoming is Right Around the Corner!

Get Ready for an Unforgettable Time of Celebrating the Wildcat Spirit!

Fall is quickly approaching and with the cooler temperatures and changing leaves, comes one of the most exciting events of the Wilmington University calendar, Homecoming Weekend!  This year is the third annual Homecoming celebration, and if the success of the first two years is any indication, this event is going to be monumental. This year will hold new events, new games, and new opportunities to connect with Wilmington University faculty, staff, students and fellow alumni. So make sure that you mark your calendars on September 19-21 – because this is going to be a weekend you will not want to miss!

The weekend’s festivities will be kicked off with a Networking Happy Hour at the World Café Live at the Queen in Wilmington on Friday night, September 19th. Attendees will mix and mingle at one of Wilmington's premier downtown locations.  Enjoy heavy Hors d'oeuvre, great conversation and a guest speaker.  $15 per person.

Saturday will be a day full of fun, food, and team spirit for the entire family! At the center of this celebration is a chance to cheer on your Wilmington University Soccer teams while enjoying a variety of delicious cuisine from many area vendors.  In between the games the newest inductee to the Athletic Hall of Fame will be announced as well as the National Champion Cheerleaders will perform. Family friendly activities including a bouncy house, soccer obstacle course (for all ages!), crafts, face painting, photo booth and much more! All activities during the day on Saturday are free and family-friendly.

New this year - tailgating!  Cost is 40$ per spot and is on a first-come, first serve basis.  Prizes will be given to the tailgate showing the most Wildcat Pride!

Sunday is the first (annual) Homecoming 5K Spirit Run. This will be a Family Friendly event that will celebrate Homecoming and a healthy lifestyle.  The location is yet to be determined but the race kick off at 10:00am with a "Kids Romp" followed by the Spirit Run at 10:30am. The cost is $15 per person. (Kids romps for free)  Awards will be given to the fastest times as well as most spirited participants.  After the race, finish out the weekend by enjoying our event entitiled "WilmU Around Town".  This features many local museums and  entertainment venues that are offering discounted admission prices to WilmU alumni and students. You must show your WilmU Around Town pass which will be included in the official Homecoming Weekend Invite that will be mailed in September.

This is going to be a weekend to remember – so make sure to plan early!  You will not want to be the one who has to hear all about this incredible event second hand!  Come on out – and let’s celebrate the Wildcat Spirit together.
