Wilmington University Alumna is Taking the Fashion Industry By Storm

Reigning Miss United States, Crystal Rush, will be carrying the WilmU banner to the world stage

Wilmington University alumna Crystal Rush has had her share of victories, not the least of which is her recent crowning as Miss United States 2014. This incredible honor has opened up several opportunities that she is leveraging to do a lot of good for people around the world.

Crystal is definitely in a new and exciting season in her life. She recently shared that she is leaving in early November to “... chase my dream and participate in a reality show that will change the fashion industry.”

According to a recent press release out of Washington, D.C.:

In early November, Ms. United States 2014 Crystal Rush will film The Fashion Hero reality television show in Riveria Maya, Mexico. Rush will be joined by two former national titleholders and multiple reigning state titleholders.

Earlier this year, The Fashion Hero became an official partner of the Miss United States organization to communicate that pageantry and modeling can welcome women of all shapes, sizes, heights and backgrounds. During The Fashion Hero television show, brands such as Jonathan Kayne and Planet Beach will select models for upcoming campaigns.

"I always wondered how nice it would be," said creator Caroline Bernier, "to see real people represented in marketing campaigns, instead of airbrushed, Photoshopped, unattainable ideals of beauty. This is the reason why I created The Fashion Hero."

The Fashion Hero is projected to be syndicated around the world in 2015. Learn more at www.thefashionhero.com.

While Crystal is doing great things around the world, she has certainly not lost her affection for Wilmington University. “As for my time at WilmU, I absolutely loved it," Crystal stated. "I graduated with an undergraduate degree in business with a concentration in organizational management. I was drawn to Wilmington University because of the small class size. I grew up in a small town so I wanted to make sure I chose a university that had that personable feel, a college that I could really get to know my professors and classmates. I loved it so much that after graduating I continued into the graduate program. Right now I am taking the year off because of my new title of Miss United States, but I can't wait to come back and continue the program.”

One thing is certain: WilmU is proud of all Crystal has accomplished and she can count on our continued support as she pursues her dreams. Please take a moment to check out her Fashion Hero video and see Crystal in her WilmU colors!

Be sure to be on the lookout for The Fashion Hero when it comes to television, where we will be given the opportunity to cast our vote for one beautiful wildcat!
