WilmU Library joins Wikipedia Project

Library Resources to be made available through select Wikipedia Pages

Discovery Happens Everywhere.

What if every reference in a Wikipedia article had the link to the full text source next to it? That's the question behind this new library initiative. By joining the "Forward to Libraries" list managed by the University of Pennsylvania Library, the WilmU Library offers users on Wikipedia the opportunity to designate Wilmington University Library as their home library. Once WilmU has been selected, clicking on ‘Resources in your library’ will automatically run a subject search in the WilmU Discovery system to provide access to library resources on the desired topic. As one of the most heavily used sites on the internet (#7 in global traffic per Alexa), and content 2000 times as large as encyclopedia britannica’s deluxe edition, Wikipedia is the research starting point for a large segment of the population, including students. Through the efforts of this initiative, relevant information resources owned or licensed by the WilmU Library will be made visible and lead to further research offered by the world of libraries.
