Wilmington University Sponsors 2010 Tour de Lance in Wilmington
Wilmington University is proud to be one of the sponsors of the 2010 Tour de Lance, a 5k Run/Walk to benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation. The University is encouraging alumni, faculty, students and friends to get brush off their sneakers, practice their stretches, and get ready for the race. This year's Tour de Lance takes place on Wednesday, August 18 at Dravo Plazo (next to the Blair Outlet Center) on the Wilmington Riverfront, and will raise funds to support the Lance Armstrong Foundation in continuing the fight against cancer.
The first 600 people to register will receive both a free T-shirt and a Blue Rocks ticket. The Matt Minker Memorial Award, named for the late Matt Minker, owner of the Wilmington Blue Rocks who died of cancer in 2007, will be awarded to the first male and female cancer survivor race finishers. A Post Race Party will feature free food, drinks, and ice cream.
Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. on August 18 and the race will start at 6:30 p.m.
