Alumna Wins Patricia Ireland WFaculty Award
ilmington University Summer Camp Director and adjunct instructor THERESE RISPOLI won the 2016 Patricia Ireland Faculty Award at
Independence School in Newark. The award recognizes exceptional faculty, in terms of professionalism, compassion and good nature.
Since 2002, Rispoli has spent her summers dedicated to developing a fun and creative space for children at the University. Her mission to develop young minds continues year-round as an art teacher
at Independence School.
Rispoli earned her master’s in Education in 2009 from WilmU. WU

supporting a wonderful cause,” says Dr. Eileen Donnelly, vice president of Enrollment Management. “First- time and experienced riders enjoy a sense of real accomplishment and camaraderie that lasts long after we arrive at the beach.”
RENEE TYRE, administrative assist- ant in the College of Business, has participated in biking the event five out of the last six years — only taking a year off due to pregnancy.
“My annual goal is to reach $1,000, which means I’ve raised $1 for each person in Delaware that this event helps,” says Tyre.
Tyre’s dedication leads her to get an early start on her fundraising and biking practice. Her friends and family can expect emails, social media posts and individual conversations beginning in March to support her effort, although the final bike ride occurs six months later.
Tyre dedicates her commitment to Bike to the Bay to colleague Dr. Stephanie Battis.
Battis, chair of the undergraduate Organizational Management Pro- grams in the College of Business, has had MS for more than 30 years. She’s grateful, appreciative and proud of riders like Tyre.
“The money [they raise] will help Delawareans fight MS,” says Battis. “With Renee’s assistance, one day there will be a world free of MS.” WU
