Academic Advising services are an essential element of the Wilmington University student support system. The efforts of the office of advising are focused on emphasizing overall student development by ensuring that the needs of students are met in the most efficient, effective, and productive manner possible.

Academic Advising services are available at all six Wilmington University sites. At the New Castle campus the advising office is located on the second floor of the Doberstein Admissions Classroom Building (DAC). Students attending other sites should check with their site office. Graduate students should contact their Program Chair.

All new students wishing to make a successful adjustment to Wilmington University should take advantage of the Academic Advising services.

Advisors are able to:

  1. Discuss areas of personal concern such as balancing academics with work, as well as family, and social obligations.
  2. Discuss academic progress and course sequencing
  3. Explain school policy and procedures
  4. Refer students to campus resources for help with their unique needs

Academic Advisors want to help students learn how to successfully self-advise and know where to go with their questions. Scheduled appointments prior to registration periods are recommended.

All new transfer students are encouraged to schedule an appointment with their Academic Advisor before their initial enrollment.

New Freshman Students

Freshmen applicants will begin at the Admissions office but are encouraged to schedule appointments with their Academic Advisor during their first semester.
