Biography

I am a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Art degree in Sociology and a Master of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies. I also have a Ph.D. in Family Studies from the University of Delaware. Prior to coming to Wilmington University I taught family studies and women’s studies at Messiah University for 15 years.

I also directed the Gender Studies Project at Messiah University. I have been a consultant for organizations like the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, the State of Delaware, Catholic Charities, and Beebe Healthcare. I have served as President of the Family Science Association.

I am President-Elect of the Board of Directors for the National Council on Family Relations and Board member for Trauma Matters Delaware. I am a Certified Family Life Educator and the Director of Psychology Programs as well as the Director of the Center for Prevention Science at Wilmington University.
