Biography
Currently the Director of Mathematical Sciences, Dr. Diane Bansbach has served as the Mathematics Chair at Wilmington University since 2013. She is a seasoned mathematics educator with more than 30 years of experience teaching students from seventh grade through college-level across Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware. Her mathematical interests center around statistics, and she is deeply committed to the belief that all students can learn mathematics, including statistics. She advocates for a growth mindset and prioritizes equitable, engaging instructional practices that make mathematics accessible to every learner.
Dr. Bansbach earned her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Delaware, where she completed her Educational Learning Portfolio entitled “Professional Development that Promotes Active Learning in Remedial Mathematics in Higher Education.” She holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from Penn State University and a master’s degree in Mathematics Education from Villanova University.
Outside of her academic work, she enjoys hiking, camping, gardening, and kayaking. Dr. Bansbach is also an active volunteer, partnering with organizations such as PAWS for People - where she takes part with her black lab, Benjamin - and teaching English as a Second Language to refugees.
