Spring 2020 Commencement Rescheduled

Dear Spring of 2020 Graduates,

We are delighted to announce that Wilmington University has tentatively rescheduled its spring commencement ceremonies for Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020, at the Chase Center on the Riverfront, in Wilmington, Delaware.

As you know, Del. Gov. John Carney declared a State of Emergency and urged organizers of large public gatherings to cancel events to combat the spread of COVID-19. As the virus led to a global pandemic, we found ourselves in a public health crisis, and, like most universities worldwide, were forced to postpone the commencement ceremony initially scheduled for May 17.

The Class of 2020 persevered during a global crisis. You shouldered the burden of juggling schoolwork with work, and perhaps more time caring for loved ones. Yet you rose to the challenge and achieved your academic goals. We are so proud of your commitment and determination.

While commencement will take place this fall, your degrees will still be conferred in the spring once final grades are received, and diplomas will be mailed this summer.

We will schedule the date definitively once statewide restrictions are lifted and remain through the fall. We look forward to providing additional information as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Dr. LaVerne T. Harmon
President
