Biography

Dr. Joseph A. Massare is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Master of Education in School Leadership Program at Wilmington University.  Dr. Massare holds degrees in education, school leadership, ministry, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Innovation and Leadership.  Dr. Massare’s dissertation explored the Impact of a Mandatory School Uniform on Discipline, Grades and Attendance on the Elementary and Middle School Grade Levels.  He has been in education for over 47 years as a high school teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent.  During his time at Wilmington University, he has served on a variety of committees including Chair of the Faculty Senate for a two-year term, and the Curriculum and Technology Committees of the Faculty Senate.  Dr. Massare also serves on various State of Delaware Committees for the enhancement of the school leadership degree. 

Outside of his employment, he volunteers in a variety of areas locally and nationally.  Currently, Dr. Massare is Chair of the Town Watch in his home development of 400 homes in New Jersey as well as support and guide couples preparing for marriage or in need of marriage counseling. 

Dr. Massare and his wife, Patricia, reside in New Jersey with a daughter involved in cinematography in Los Angeles with her husband, Paul and our grandson, Sebastian.
