Biography

Dr. Thelma Hinds is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Alternative Route to Teacher Certification Program.  She serves as the Counselor for the Kappa Delta Pi Honor society in Education.  Thelma has degrees in English, Middle Level Education, Mid-management certification (principal), and a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction/cognate in Instructional Technology. 

Her experience includes 19 years in K-12 education (Georgia, Delaware, Texas as well as Department of Defense Dependent Schools in Germany) and fourteen years at the higher education level.  Professional certifications and training include School Leader I (DE), Principal/Assistant Principal (DE & TX), Teacher Perceiver Instrument, Teacher Expectation Student Achievement (trainer of trainers), 4MAT System (trainer of trainers) Emotional Intelligence (trainer of trainers) Texas Knowledge and Skills for Leaders (trainer of trainers) and for ETS Praxis Performance Assessment for Teacher (PPAT) and MoPTA (Missouri). 

Thelma’s two motivations are service and relationship.  Consequently, she has served as a member of the Department of Education Literacy Coalition and participated in Educators Rising Delaware for over 13 years.  Thelma has also conducted religious trainings around family and youth in Texas, Germany, Wisconsin, and Okinawa, Japan.
