Wilmington University Holds Second Annual WUCoT Film Festival

You are invited to the Wilmington University’s annual film festival, hosted by the College of Technology. The WUCoT Film Festival, first held last June, was created to showcase the exceptional work produced by the University’s many talented and creative students. This year the festival will be held June 30 in the DAC Auditorium on the University’s New Castle campus. Students will exhibit short films and commercial pieces. The WUCoT Film Festival is open to the University Community and the general public, so grab some popcorn and head over.

Among the new features for the WUCoT Film Festival this year is a guest panel comprised of professionals actively working in the Digital Film industry outside the University. These honored guests will be on hand to answer questions during a special Q&A session and offer guidance to attendants.

On June 24, prior to the film festival, the College of Technology will host a 48-Hour Film Competition, affording students the opportunity to form teams and create work before the main festival on the 30th. One short will be picked as the 48-Hour winner, but all works produced during the competition will be shown during the WUCoT Film Festival. The 48-Hour Competition will start at 5:30 p.m. on June 24 in room 025 of the People’s Building, and the deadline for finished works will be 9:00 a.m. on June 27.

During the WUCoT Film Festival, one piece will be chosen as the “Best In Show” by the guest panel. That winning student will receive a certificate and a grand prize for their efforts.

All current Wilmington University students and alumni, are allowed to enter any work they have created—with a maximum running time of 20 minutes. Any work created for professional or monetary gain will be disqualified.

Entries are currently being accepted. To enter, please submit a self-starting DVD with your name clearly written on the disc to Ryan Cerminara in the College Of Technology.

All submissions must be entered by June 27 at 9:00 a.m.

Show off your talents, create new art, and afford yourself the opportunity to experience a film festival all your own!
