Wilmington University Hosts Delaware InfraGard “10 Years Later” Event

As the country prepares for the observance of the 10-year anniversary of the tragedies of September 11, the Delaware InfraGard will hold an event highlighting the important improvements in cyber security. “10 Years Later” will be held on Friday, September 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at Wilmington University’s New Castle Campus. This event is free and open to the public.

Topics covered will include a discussion on Delaware’s Joint Terrorism Task Force; federal prosecution of cyber intrusions and other crimes; and the internal threats still plaguing cyber programs. The event will also highlight the key role cyber security plays in national safety.

United States Attorney for Delaware Charles Oberly will welcome the crowd along with Special Agent in Charge, Richard McFeely. Together they will speak on the anniversary of September 11 and the continued commitment to preventing all types of terrorism – including cyber terrorism. Next, FBI Supervisory Special Agent, Jeff Reising, will comment on the Counter Terrorism Program as part of the Delaware Joint Terrorism Task Force.

After a short intermission with refreshments Assistant United States Attorneys Ed McAndrew and Edmond Falgowski will offer wisdom on the federal prosecution of cyber intrusions and other related crime. They will speak on the U.S. Department of Justice’s new priorities after the tragedies of 9-11. Finally, the morning will end with a discussion on the “Front Line Battles” – the insider threats to the infrastructure that still plague cyber programs. Mark Noble, Director of Government Affairs at Security Transcends Technology (ISC)2 will give real world scenarios of internal threats from a CSIO’s perspective.

This event will be held in the Doberstein Admissions Center of Wilmington University in room 309. Wilmington University’s New Castle campus is located on 320 North DuPont Highway, New Castle, Delaware.
