Wilmington University hosts National Security Partnership Meeting

Wilmington University will host the quarterly meeting of InfraGard, a national partnership between the FBI, the cybersecurity and infrastructure protection industry and academia.

The meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, January 30, 2013, will be held in the Auditorium of the Doberstein Admissions Center on the University’s New Castle campus. It will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon and will focus on Hurricane Sandy response.

Local business professionals will share their perspective at this meeting. Thomas Born of PHI and Ed Durst of Christiana Care will speak on storm preparation and lessons learned during the storm, which caused mass damage to the New Jersey and New York coastlines in November. Linda Stevens of Pepco will provide an overview of industrial control systems with a focus on SCADA, which stands for Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition.

The primary purpose of SCADA is to monitor, control and alarm plant or regional operating systems from a central location.

Dr. Edward L. Guthrie, dean of the College of Technology, is also president of the Delaware chapter of InfraGard.
