Mark Daniels - A Model of Excellence and Professionalism

To say that Wilmington University is a large part of Mark Daniels’ life would be an understatement, to say the least. Not only is Mark a graduate of WilmU’s Criminal Justice program, he is currently the Safety Supervisor for the University. He has experienced the excellence of the Green and White as both a student and as a staff member, and he praises the school from both perspectives. He says that his time with the University has been wonderful, stating that he has learned a lot and developed some truly great relationships along the way.

Mark was employed by the Wilmington University Safety Department in January 2010, after having an extremely distinguished career with the Delaware State Police. During Mr. Daniels career with DSP, he worked with the Criminal Investigations Unit, Homicide, Ceremonial Honor Guard and the Conflict Management (Hostage Negotiation) Team, as well as serving as both the Troop 2 and Troop 9 Deputy Troop Commander at different times. Mark was also awarded the Superintendent’s Citation Award, Troop 2 “Detective of the Year” award, Delaware State Police “Trooper of the Year” award, and the Delaware Special Olympics “Volunteer of the Year” award. Mark Daniels truly came to the University with a plethora of experience and real-world wisdom.

Even with such an impressive resume, Mark stated that he gained an immense amount of knowledge from his studies in the Criminal Justice department at WilmU. He said that every class he took at Wilmington University taught him something about the field that he had dedicated his life and career to. He attributes the quality of education he received to the skill and professionalism of his instructors and the support he received from faculty and other staff members at the University. Mark said that he also enjoyed the opportunity to work alongside younger students who were coming into the Criminal Justice field at the early stages of their careers. He was able to mentor and offer valuable guidance to the up-and-coming law enforcement professionals. Mark Daniels is a prime example of the strengths and benefits that Wilmington University’s non-traditional model can offer today’s students.

Even though Mark Daniels is WilmU staff member and alumnus, his connection with the University does not stop there. Actually, Wilmington University is a Daniels’ family affair. Mark’s wife has graduated from WilmU with a Master’s in Administration of Justice, his oldest son has graduated with Bachelors in Media Design, and his youngest son is currently in his sophomore year at the University. Mark is definitely a shining example of Wildcat pride. Wilmington University is certainly grateful to have such an outstanding professional represent her so well… in many ways.
