David Plouffe, Author of ‘The Audacity to Win’, Will Visit Wilmington University

The Wilmington University Library, in partnership with the Government and Public Policy Program, the Delaware Center for the Book and the Delaware Division of Libraries present “Off the Page: An Afternoon with David Plouffe.” Join author David Plouffe, as he speaks on his new book ‘The Audacity to Win’. This event, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Friday, December 18 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Doberstein Admissions Center Auditorium on Wilmington University’s New Castle campus.

Delaware native David Plouffe is famous for managing one of the most successful presidential campaigns in American history. In his first book, ‘The Audacity to Win’, Plouffe discusses management strategies he employed during the 2008 campaign. Get an inside look at Plouffe’s political journey as he explains the ins and outs of campaign management including designing a grassroots movement that changed the face of politics.

“Off the Page: An Afternoon with David Plouffe” will provide an intimate look at one of the most successful campaign managers in recent history and the man behind the production. Join David Plouffe for a short Question and Answer session followed by a book signing. Copies of ‘The Audacity to Win’ will be available for purchase at the event.

The afternoon will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a Government and Public Policy Information Session by the College of Arts and Sciences. Wilmington University advisors and program coordinators will provide a brief overview of the Bachelor of Science degree in Government and Public Policy. This program, the first of its kind in the state of Delaware, draws upon courses from numerous disciplines to provide students with a broad array of skills needed to evaluate policy needs, design laws, communicate with the public and the media, negotiate effectively, navigate the political system, and implement programs.

Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, Plouffe is proud to be back to visit after a long and extensive chapter of his career. David Plouffe began his career canvassing door to door in Delaware and Iowa and has since managed two U.S. Senate races, a congressional race, and served on other political committees. In 2001, he joined forces with David Axelrod and in 2004 their firm, AKPD media, served as lead strategist on Barack Obama’s successful U.S. Senate bid. After managing Obama’s presidential campaign, Plouffe helped set up Organizing for America, a thirteen-million-strong group of Obama supporters, to continue the spirit and initiative of the campaign in everyday political and civic life.

Seating is limited on a first-come, first-served basis; reservations and tickets are not needed. The Wilmington University auditorium is located at 320 DuPont Highway, New Castle.
