Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA)

Program Purpose

The MHA program is designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge required for a successful career in healthcare administration. The curriculum is structured around key competencies that align with institutional and industry standards, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of the healthcare profession.

Program Competencies

In addition to Wilmington University’s graduation competencies, the MBA program includes the following specific competencies:

1. Evaluate and apply ethically grounded, emotionally intelligent leadership practices to manage and lead healthcare organizations and interdisciplinary teams in complex and evolving environments.
2. Critically analyze healthcare systems, financing structures, and public policy to assess their impact on organizational performance, access to care, quality outcomes, and health equity.
3. Design, implement, and evaluate strategic and operational initiatives that enhance organizational efficiency, quality of care, patient safety, and long-term sustainability.
4. Evaluate, synthesize, and apply healthcare data, health information systems, financial management principles, and performance metrics to support evidence-based, fiscally responsible managerial and strategic decision-making within healthcare organizations.
5. Strategically communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, clinicians, governing bodies, patients, and community partners to influence decision-making and advance organizational and community health goals.

During the PPC process, nursing students may opt to take the DNP course options: GRN 8107 in place of HCA 7300, GRN 8105 in place of HCA 7200, MSN 6500 in place of HCA 7400.
