Virtual Health Delivery Certificate

Program Purpose

The undergraduate certificate in Virtual Health Delivery will prepare healthcare professionals, including nurses, medical assistants, and allied health workers, to provide competent, ethical and secure care through telehealth and remote healthcare technologies. Students will build technical, clinical, and communication skills required for virtual care environments, including platform operation, virtual assessments, remote monitoring, and documentation. Graduates will be prepared for roles such as telehealth nurses, remote patient monitoring (RPM) coordinators, virtual medical assistants, telehealth support specialists, and digital health educators.

Program of Study

The certificate consists of 15 undergraduate credits.  All courses are offered 100% online.

Students must consult an academic advisor and/or program chair to plan appropriate course sequencing and selection. Courses may be completed within a baccalaureate curriculum at Wilmington University.

Certificate Competencies

In addition to the University’s graduation competencies, students will be able to:

  • Operate telehealth platforms and troubleshoot technical issues. 
  • Conduct effective virtual patient consultations using best practices in communication strategies. 
  • Apply legal and ethical guidelines (HIPAA, informed consent, licensure compliance) to virtual care delivery. 
  • Integrate remote patient monitoring (RPM) tools into clinical workflows. 
  • Adapt in-person clinical assessments for virtual delivery where appropriate. 
  • Navigate billing and reimbursement considerations for telehealth services. 

General Requirements/ Pre-Requisites

The certificate is open to the following prospective students with an interest in Virtual Health Delivery:

•    High School graduate and/or;

•    Associate Degree graduate and/or;

•    Wilmington University undergraduate students in a degree-seeking program upon advisement from a program chair and/or an academic advisor.

Students must complete an undergraduate application for admission accompanied by a non-refundable admission fee.

Due to prerequisite course requirements, some students may require more than 5 courses to complete the certificate.
